1. I got a few new books this week that I have already started paging through. I am having so much fun teaching the kids yoga classes and am always eager to learn new ideas, strategies, and poses. Especially for the middle school kids where boosting self esteem and promoting independence is so important.
2. Yesterday was a super exciting day as the BOY got sworn into the Illinois State Bar Association! I took the day off work with my mom and his mom. We were beyond proud to support him as he took his oath.
3. Afterwards, we all went out for Ramen. The timing couldn’t have been better as I woke up with early signs of a cold and Miso is known for its health benefits. Because the bowl is HUGE, I was thrilled to indulge in leftovers again today.
4. Then…we swung by the Buddy Foundation (which was Cooper’s home before we adopted him last year). Each week, the BOY and I put spare change and money into a donation bucket and we decided that we wanted to donate this year’s money to this no kill animal shelter. It is such a positive place and Cooper has become a huge part of our family. The four of us played with kittens and despite their adorable smiles and sweet purrs, we managed to walk away without one. We were, of course, more than thrilled to come home to our favorite feline : )
5. Wednesday night’s dinner was easy, tasty, and healthy so it is definitely worth sharing. You can find the full recipe HERE, but I created an even simpler version. On a baking sheet, I placed the chicken, covered it with seasoning and cheese, baked it for 10 minutes. Then, I added the lettuce, drizzled it with olive oil, salt, and pepper, baked it for 5 minutes and then sprinkled everything with a bit of sea salt. Although it might have been a little better on the grill, it will be a close second when the grill gets closed up for the winter.
What was the highlight of your week? What’s on the agenda for this weekend?
I love going to the shelters but then it always breaks my heart when I cannot take them all home-I even avoid Petsmart on the weekends because I know that there are so many dogs there that need homes. We have owned 5 dogs in our marriage and 2 we picked up on the street (actually DH did) and 2 came from shelters. I would love to get a playmate for Dogma-I’m just not sure my house could take it!
Congrats to the Boy (and you as I’m sure without your help it would have been more difficult).
Thank you Debi! It’s be a journey for all of us!
We’re not sure if Cooper can handle a playmate because he is pretty used to being an only child and I agree it is so hard to walk away without taking them all with you. I’d love to find some time each week to volunteer as a pet player : )
I am shocked you guys didn’t take another cat home!! 🙂
I am taking it easy this weekend since i have been traveling a bunch and this weekend i am home! Relaxing, cooking, yoga, and football!!
Hope you are having a good weekend!!!
That sounds fantastic!
I am a bit shocked too! They are so sweet and so cute. This week I found Cooper in a box on the top of one of our closets. I think we’ve got our hands full with one : )
So great you and the moms were able to supper the boy! And seriously impressive none of you went home with another cat 🙂
The highlight of my week was our hike this weekend!
I love your hiking pics! So glad you are enjoying the outdoors!
Ooo good call on the ramen! I feel a cold coming on so I should definitely get some of that today (or maybe just a spicy chicken noodle soup – it always helps!) I can’t believe you left without adopting another cat – that is so serious self-control! haha. The highlight of my weekend was visiting my friend in Ann Arbor!
So fun! Hope you’re feeling better!
The ramen worked wonders and if there was one close by I think I’d be there weekly!
