I Left the Nest…

And then returned right home to eat some hot Turkey Chili!

I should probably admit early in this post that I only ventured so far a to the mail box at the end of our driveway, but I came back with frozen hands, none the less.

Here’s a weather update…

You can compare this to yesterday’s photo of our back yard…just a little more snow over night.  My car was clean yesterday when I got home and I woke up to this…

I’m not particularly motivated to clean it off.  And I’m kicking myself for not buying snow shoes this year : )

Because I am feeling a little stir crazy.  The BOY is still sick and shouldn’t be leaving the house, but I am itching to get out.  If only I had above mentioned snow shoes!  I don’t actually need to leave for anything.  I mean sure, I”d love to go to a yoga class and need a few things from Target, but it just doesn’t seem worth it to clean off my car and brave the roads.  Thankfully, I found a Law&Order marathon on TNT.  That makes my new permanent spot on the couch sound much better!  It looks like I’ll have plenty of time to sip on lemon water while pinning delicious looking soups and warm breads on Pinterest.

And Cooper is always able to find something to keep himself entertained…

This afternoon, I was talking to my mom (and frequent weather advisor).  She recommended brushing off my car today since the freezing temps are coming over night.  She had a point and I thought it might be fun to get some fresh air.  I bundled up from head to toe to tackle the car.  I was outside, maybe 10 minutes, before my fingers were frozen.

I did a crappy job on the car, but it’s better than nothing.  The good part is that my car actually started which of course, made me happy.  It seems that everyone else I have talked to is doing the same thing today…staying put.  We’ve got Two Ingredient Chicken in the crockpot and after this afternoon’s adventure, I think a nap may be in order.  Hope you are having a more exciting day than us!!!  Stay warm!!!

  1. Stay warm!! I’m not a fan of winter driving so stay put if I don’t have to go somewhere!
I had a pedicure appointment with my girlfriends yesterday that we booked months ago. The roads and temps were brutal, so I white-knuckled it all the way there. It was worth it once my feet were in the warm water and I was catching up on girl talk 🙂

    • I would totally believe that! I love a nails date with my girlfriends! My toes are in desperate need of some love, but I’m not sure anyone will see them until June when the snow melts…ha ha!

  2. I saw some tweets of girls doing there long runs (15+ miles) on the deathmill today. Sounds miserable and now that I have seen your backyard I understand! Stay warm and drive safe!! We have been watching the Shark Tank marathon which was fun but we aren’t stuck inside either! At least you had a reason! 🙂

    • Some couch time is always necessary, snow or not! 15 miles sounds awful on the treadmill. I don’t think even the hard core people would be out running this week. They say you’ll have frost bite in only 10 minutes!!!

    • That’s crazy! How did your 20 miles go?
We did get crushed. I shouldn’t be surprised as I do live in Chicago but we had such a mild winter last year, it’s a bit of a shock to the system.

    • I don’t work Mondays but most of the world was closed today! Tomorrow fingers crossed, my car starts and I am off to work. AFter sitting indoors for 3 straight days with a sick boyfriend and a rambunctious kitten, I’m ready for the work week : )

  3. Your crock pot chicken recipe makes me want salsa chicken now. Interesting that you shred it. We just pull it out of salsa and eat it as is. I bet is more flavorful shredded like that. Gonna have to try that.
