How amazing-and you ended with desert! I love open air markets! I really liked the sign that was in Hebrew but said Happy Hour on the bottom-how funny! You are very good with the camera-congrats on the entire trip-it looks as if you really enjoyed it.
I did! And I had a few desserts to bring home and share with the family!
Sometimes I feel like the US is lame and that other countries know whats up in the food market arena. While a grocery store is convenient I want cheap street groceries out of barrels!!!
So true! I never thought about it but I have seen amazing pictures of world markets on other blogs and could have spent days at this market alone. I love the buying in bulk fresh produce and spices and using that to put together a meal. It’s incredible!
Sign me up! I’d love to shop at open air marketes with fresh produce!!!
I know…right?! How does Chicago not have this???
Oh my gosh, that market looks amazing! Did you buy anything fun?
I did! I bought some incredible teas and spices to bring home, plus tahini for the BOY. I also brought home some snacks. While I was there I LOVED the fresh figs and dried fruit and nuts. I spent more money here than on souvenirs : )
Beautiful! I would love to live in a place with a great open air market like that. But I would probably buy a ton of food and just sit at home eating all day. That gorgeous fruit is making me hungry! 🙂
It made me want to host a dinner party for sure! Come up with an awesome and unique menu, shop, and serve friends. I bought some of the best dried fruit EVER and would be there everyday too!
[…] 4. Did I tell you that I found Biscoff in Israel? Not at the Shuk! […]
Thanks for sharing! Looks amazing. I am sure being a cook like you are, you were in heaven. It even made me want to cook…..a little bit anyways. 🙂
Ha ha! It is really motivating for sure. Plus the Mediterranean diet is sooo delish…I wanted to learn some new recipes!
[…] We still don’t have onion so I made a few adjustments to the original recipe from Cooking Light, including adding some of my mystery red spice from Israel. […]
So cool! The Pres/VP at the organization I work for were just in Israel, so I saw some similar pictures from them! I want to visit. 🙂
That’s awesome! You should definitely go! It was one of the most amazing places that I’ve been!
