1. Yes it’s been raining again. No I don’t want to talk about it!
2. I was in a continuing ed class today (and will be again tomorrow), so I decided to take the train into the city. The only thing worse than driving in the snow is driving through Chicago traffic in the rain, so I was happy to be sitting quietly with my new book.
3. Due to some crazy city traffic, I missed my first train this afternoon. I ran up just as it was pulling away and got a nasty blister on my left heel. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I wasn’t running a half marathon on Sunday. Yikes! Luckily, I had my book to keep me company while I waited for the next train.
4. I picked up my packet for Sunday’s half marathon tonight. I am excited for my new yellow race shirt, but a little nervous for Sunday’s race. Between fatigue, my new blister, and a knot it my back, I’m not quite sure how it will go.
5. After a long week, I thought I’d end this post with an inspirational quote for race weekend…
“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."

How was your Friday?
What book are you reading right now?
You got this, girl! Hopefully your speedy legs from the shamrock shuffle will surprise you. Good luck! Can’t wait to read about it!
You read my mind! I am totally hoping that my speedy legs show up for this race too : )
My Friday started off like the weather (got rained on during my run) but ended with the honors and hooding ceremony at Benedictine for DD who graduates next Sat. It was really nice-the students pick a professor that meant a lot to them to put their hood on over their gown.
As far as reading-I have 2 books going, The Age of Miracles ( for my book club) and of course the new women’s detective book by Patterson-12th of Never.
Have a great run-take care of your heel-and I absolutely love the quote!
Thanks Debi!
Please pass along my congrats to Shelby! What an amazing week ahead! I love the quick read Patterson books. I used to read them all of the time and haven’t picked one up in a little while.
Good luck on Sunday’s race! The weather should be better by then, so that’s good news. 🙂 Have a great weekend!
It seems like it turned out alright today too! I had a beautiful drive home from the city and am hoping for a successful race tomorrow : )
It’s nice that you were able to relax and take the train and not have to deal with the crazy city traffic. Right now, I have a couple of running books on deck to read. Good luck at your race–you’ll rock it! 🙂
Let me know which one you like the best. I want to read some running books before my fall marathon for sure!
Good luck on the half! You may have already done it I am a little behind : ) This weekend I read the rockstar in 3b, the right address, and i’m not partially through arm candy. Love me some good trashy reads some times!
Yes, especially when you are on the couch looking to lounge. I am thinking of moving on to chic lit after I finish this thriller.
I’m currently reading Daring Greatly by Brené Brown. Next up: A Life Without Limits by Chrissie Wellington.
I’ve never heard of Daring Greatly…I’ll have to check it out. My reading list just keeps growing!
