Which means we I am due for another peanut butter recipe!
Recipe #1: Reece’s Brownies with Peanut Butter Frosting
Recipe #2: Peanut Butter M&M Blondies
But before we go even further, I HAVE to share with you the easiest, tastiest, purely dangerous recipe for Homemade Peanut Butter. For my baking needs, I am fine to use a plain or generic peanut butter. But when it comes to smearing over bread for a peanut butter and banana sandwich, I always go with the real thing. I love the grind your own nut butters from Whole Foods, and their honey roasted peanut butter is utterly addictive.
And super easy to make at home.
You just throw some peanuts into the food processor and blend.
No oil needed. It just takes a little patience to allow everything to smooth out. Luckily, this leaves you plenty of time for taste testing, which in my opinion is the BEST part of homemade nut butters!
Thankfully, I stock pile leftover jelly and jam jars, so I have the perfect place to store my peanut butter and jars to share with my friends and family.
Like with hummus, once you’ve tried homemade peanut butter, it’s hard to go back to the store bought variety!
Don’t you just want to dive into this jar with a spoon???
You should! It’s worth it!
Quite possibly (and embarrassingly), I licked the bowl (and spatula) clean!
I have big plans for my peanut butter, so stay tuned for Peanut Butter Recipe #3 (coming tomorrow)!
But until then…you might as well keep your food processor out for dessert. You don’t even need to clean it.
Just add some frozen banana and whip up a bowl of Banana (and Peanut Butter) Soft Serve! If I had some chocolate chips, I would have stirred them in too.
This dessert was so awesome that even the banana hating BOY was checking it out! I sat down to watch a movie for a quiet Saturday night in and happily dug into my bowl (almost licking it clean too). The BOY and I are getting a little spoiled with these quiet weekends, but we are loving our unplanned Saturdays! It’s the perfect time to refresh before all of the holiday excitement (and law school finals) ahead!
Do you ever make nut butters?
What is your favorite recipe?
One Ingredient Homemade Peanut Butter
Ingredients
1 Canister of honey roasted peanuts
Directions
Place 3 cups of honey roasted peanuts into a food processor. Combine until a thick peanut butter paste forms, about 5 minutes. Stop and scrape the sides of the food processor as needed. Store in a glass jar.
Optional: Add in honey, maple syrup, sea salt, or chocolate.
My all time favorite is this White Chocolate Peanut Butter!
Banana and Peanut Butter Soft Serve
Serves 1
Ingredients
1 frozen banana, sliced
2 tbsp peanut butter
1/4-1/2 cup almond milk
Optional: stir in peanuts, chocolate chips, or cover with sprinkles and whipped cream
Directions
Place banana and peanut butter in food processor and blend until smooth. Stream in almond milk until desired consistency is reached. Add toppings as desired.
Love this recipe! PB is unbeatable
Yes, yes it is!!!
I agree! Once I started making my own peanut and almond butter, I haven’t looked back. It just tastes so much better–so fresh!
Yes! I love making almond butter too. It is so easy and much cheaper than at the store.
OMG, I’m desperate for a good PB since they took my Justin’s off the shelf. M just told me about the make-your-own at Whole Food’s today. But your pictures make it tempting to try my own. My food processor is way too small, though. KILLING ME!!!
Good point…PB in the tiny food processor would be painful. Do you have a good blender?? It would do the trick to. The grind your own is unbelieveable and if they have the honey roasted you have to try it. But it is addicting, so don’t say I didn’t warn you ha ha! You’ll have to add a food processor to your holiday wish list. I was just thinking last night as I was doing the dishes how much love my processor gets. Between hummus, power bars, soups, and nuts, it is always working!
Toby is bringing her microwave peanut brittle recipe… in time for peanut butter month
t day does not feature peanut butter, but is getting totally out of the hand with all of the terrific recipes and opportunities to feed the fam.
Oh that is exciting! This might be our craziest Thanksgiving yet! Love it! Hope I have enough energy after all of that food to run my race!
I love peanut butter. I buy mine at Superior Nut in Cambridge, MA. I drive by their huge factory every morning. Sometimes I can smell nuts roasting and sometimes there is a tractor trailor truck blocking traffic as it makes a delivery.
We also have Shedds (?) peanut butter company down the road in Everett. My mother used to buy 3lb tins of their peanut butter when I was a kid. I think they are a national brand.
Love the recepies.
Thanks for the comment! It would be so dangerous for me driving by a PB factory every day. I hae nver heard of Superior Nut but I will keep my eyes open for it!
It may be a local or New England brand. I havn’t seen them in the stores but they have been around for years.
I am ready with my spoon.
I’ve never made a nut butter before but may have to try now. It looks soooo good.
You will love it! If you don’t have a food processor then a good blender will do. Enjoy!
I had no idea PB was this easy to make.. LOL. I just bought a jumbo bag of salted peanuts as I’m going to be doing some peanut recipes in the near future and getting everything prepped and stocked up. How will it workout with salted peanuts or is it best to use the honey roasted?
Defiitely give it a try! Salted peanuts will work great too. The PB will just be a little more plain but then perfect to try any of the variations. If you want some more sweetness, then add in some maple syrup or honey. Can’t wait to see what you make!

Must buy a food processor! I LOVE homemade nut butters (not kidding, I had to ban buying WF’s freshly ground almond butter), but the Vitamix doesn’t work so well to make them. That banana “ice cream” looks divine!
That would be a great black Friday purchase! Or check out Craig’s list!!!
I hadn’t thought of craig’s list… thanks for the tip!
